Die Karwendelbahn ist am Montag, 27.04.2026 und Dienstag, 28.04.2026 geschlossen.
Am Mittwoch hat die Bahn von 09:00 bis 17:30 Uhr wieder für Sie geöffnet.
Die Wanderwege und Klettersteige sind gesperrt.
A visit in Germany’s highest nature-information centre at the mountain station of the Karwendelbahn is exciting. It looks like a giant telescope and overlaps the cliff edge towards Mittenwald. Looking down 1.300 metre you get a breath taking view from the panorama window into the beautiful Isarvalley.
The Karwendel is the biggest splendid contiguous area of the Eastern Alps. Eagles, Marmots and chamoises live here, just like over 800 butterfly species.
Inside of the giant telescope you get a chance to explore always changing exhibitions, which take you into the high mountain region and other sensitive habitats. In the media room you get a chance to watch nature-movies about the Isar, a river which has its source on the other side of the valley on the Tirolean side.
On the backside of the giant telescope you can watch the rare rock ptarmigan, they love to relax in the “Karwendelpit”.
